Penrith District Netball Association
The Penrith District Netball Association provides competitive and social netball opportunities for all participants who want to play, umpire or coach, and welcome all ages and levels of experience.
They value friendship, community spirit, teamwork and respect to all their members.
The story began in November 1972, when a group met at Penrith Primary School to establish the Penrith District Netball Association. While the initial committee anticipated around 40 teams would compete in the first year, they were astonished when 82 teams registered in April 1973.
In many ways, the Association’s history mirrors the growth and development of Penrith itself. As the area expanded, the facilities evolved from modest beginnings. In the early days, there was no P.A. or hooter system—just loud voices and a school bell borrowed from St Nicholas and returned each Monday! Today, the facilities are among the best, thanks to a strong partnership with Penrith City Council and the successful acquisition of government grants. These improvements have turned the grounds into a thriving hub for over 4,000 members each Saturday during winter.
