Panthers Executive Chef, John Ross has always loved the culinary arts, a talent he inherited from his mother. He began working at the age of 16 in a summer hotel at Gretna Green in Scotland six days a week in different areas of the restaurant and loved every minute of it.
Armed with his passion and determination, John studied at Cambridge culinary college near London and worked in Newmarket – Europe’s racing capital – in an upmarket a la carte restaurant in a gastropub. This restaurant was owned by a German who had German chefs rotate every six months and taught John a lot about working with seasonal produce, cooking at the table, presenting at the table and providing silver service. John’s work at Newmarket paved the way for his hotel career, and he applied and was accepted to work with the Hyatt Hotels Corporation, for which he was flown to Australia to start his culinary journey in Australia.
Chef John brings an unparalleled knowledge of food and events, having worked at many fine restaurants, hotels, clubs and event centres across Australasia, including Canberra, Port Douglas, Gold Coast, Whitsundays, Uluru, Kuala Lumpur, Parramatta, Darling Harbour, Perth, Auckland, Melbourne and Darwin.
Working with his team, John is always looking at giving customers a premiership experience by serving dishes that push the boundaries with fresh, seasonal and local produce.
