DV Phones – A Lifeline When It Was Needed Most

When Sarah (name changed for privacy) arrived at a crisis shelter with nothing but the clothes on her back, one of the first questions the caseworker asked was: “Do you have a phone?”
She shook her head no. Her partner had smashed it days earlier—her final means of calling for help, connecting with family, and reaching emergency services had been taken from her.

That’s where DV Safe Phone came in.

Thanks to support through funding from Panthers Penrith, the shelter was able to provide Sarah with a fully charged DV Safe Phone—complete with a charger, SIM starter kit, and phone credit. Within minutes, she was able to contact her sister, speak to police, and begin the process of rebuilding her life with the support of specialist services.

This phone was more than a device—it was her lifeline.
It offered safety, control, and the ability to reach out when she was ready.

Since 2020, DV Safe Phone has gifted over 13,500 safe phones through 450+ registered frontline agencies across Australia. Every phone connects a victim to help. Every phone is a chance to escape, recover, and survive.
