Might I also add, if it were the Panthers that beat the Storm 40-0 in a GF, I can't imagine anyone here NOT claiming it to be the best win ever!

Granted, that would be the case.

But the difference being that in 2003 when we did win it, supporters of other teams spoke on what a great contest and game it was.

This isn't the case for this game. Most I have spoken to spoke how much of a lackluster and disappointing event it was, much like 2007 but in reverse.

Considering the two choices of a horse to back this year, I can't blame people for not caring.

I'll be the first of many to say "I hope next year neither team is a stone throw away from the 2009 Grand Final, time for some fresh blood"

Hopefully Penrith will be one of them.

Here's to 2009

Win, Lose or Draw, Together we stand tall.

Would that be calves blood? Manly certainly did look infused didn't they.

Nah but in all seriousness that was a nasty drubbing. It was boring as a contest but there were some thoroughly entertaining tries scored which made it worth the watch. Beaver grabbing a try just gave me chills (esp with Gus talking about it not a minute earlier). Seeing Folau weeping at the end puts it all in perspective.

Melbourne looked really really tired. 2 really tough games against the Broncos and Warriors really took it out of them. Anyone but the Dogs would have beaten Cronulla in the prelim, and coupled with a crazy week in the media (Bellamy/Waldron shouldn't have complicated things for their team) we end up with a scoreline no one would have predicted.

Anyone who thinks Smith would have changed things significantly is kidding themselves. He would have got them on the scoreboard, nothing more.

The Storm were lucky to get to the GF. They pinned all their hopes for the year on beating the Warriors and having a week off to rest up. Manly had the perfect build up elading up to the GF and deserved it, but I'm glad season 2008 is over.

Great result for Sydney.

It's amazing the difference eliminating the chicken wing, grapple etc has made to the Storm's performance. They just couldn't slow the ruck down.

Also did anyone notice how quiet Mathew Johns was from halftime?
